Rambo Circus set for indoor debut at Prithvi Theatre

Rambo Circus set for indoor debut at Prithvi Theatre....Amrita Jain Pune-based Rambo Circus will present their first indoor circus show at the historic Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai on June 3. It is an effort to find newer audience for the struggling circus industry by presenting the best acts from the circus in an indoor setting. The show is being organised in collaboration with Mumbai- based Junoon Theatre, co-founded by Sanjana Kapoor. The show will be of over one hour duration which will display acts suc as pyramids, fire acts, German wheel, clowning, high wheel cycle and juggling among others. "We had met Sanjana Kapoor during one of our shows and I had expressed my inclination to present the circus in a theatre. She willingly agreed," said Sujit Dilip, owner, Rambo Circus. "All our international artistes will also be participating in the programme. It's like a research initiative to see if we can develop a sustainable traveling theatre-like model. Something similar to what Canadian circus, Cirque du Soleil does," he added. One can log into the Junoon Theatre website to check-out the details of the show. As many as three shows (11am , 4 and 7 pm) will take these acts to over 600 audience every day. The show will coincide with a children's workshop. "We think it is a great idea to take this form of entertainment to different viewers. I think arts and circus are not separate and they need to work in common space," said Sanjana Kapoor. "This will help us to engage in newer collaborations and get a supplementary income source," said Dilip.
