Theatre of the Oppressed Workshop Shame and gender power relations 18 February 2012 at Visthar, Bangalore Theatre Of The Oppressed (TOTO), developed by the Brazilian Augusto Boal, is aimed at analysing and transforming social reality using the transformative power of theatre. In TOTO everybody is considered an actor. The method enables us to enter in dialogue with our bodies to critically analyse social reality and try out possible transformations. TOTO seeks to provide tools which helps the subject to move from a passive subject or just a spectator to an active transformative subject. It is an aesthetical sensual method consisting of exercises, games and theatre techniques, which have the effect of a physical as well as intellectual "de-mechanisation" of perceptions and actions. Keli Rhythm Festival 2012 (On rare and vanishing traditions of Thayambaka) KELI is a Mumbai based organization striving to preserve, develop and propagate the classical cultural heritage of India ,many of which are now on the verge of extinction. Keli has been active in this field for over the last two decades and during this period has successfully handled a number of important projects in furtherance of its objectives. The annual Keli festival, structured thematically every year are well known to artists and art lovers of the city and have earned the organization a significant place in the cultural life of Mumbai. The second phase of Keli’s twentieth anniversary celebrations is scheduled to take place at the Horniman Circule Garden on January 12, 13 and 14, 2012. He was 75 years old. This month's edition is dedicated in his honour. But Dubeyji would always want the show to go on, this January brings a flury of new plays.
